Why do we need Glycolic Acid? What does it do and how to use it? Let me answer some of the questions about the famous Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution – The Ordinary.
What is a Glycolic Acid?
A glycolic acid is a form of a chemical called alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that is from sugar cane. It helps exfoliates the skin and can be in a cleanser, toner, serum, pads, mask, and more.
How to use it?
Before I go on with my review, here’s my face skin type and color:
- Skin type: Oily/combination
- Skin color: Morena
I use it as a part of my night skincare routine. After cleansing and drying up my face, I apply the toner using a cotton pad. Afterward, I let it dry and continue with the rest of my night routine.
Usually, glycolic acid is applied only once per day at night as it makes skin sensitive to sunlight. It shouldn’t be applied together or layered with any other AHAs or BHAs like lactic and salicylic acid as both are exfoliators.
I have used the product for a month and I stopped as I had breakouts on my cheeks which I usually don’t get pimples. As I continue using it, I noticed that almost every pore on my cheeks has little bump-like whiteheads and blackheads that will soon be pimples. I thought that this is only purging but it has been almost a month and it continues to have bumps. After applying the toner, I find my face very oily and it stings a little bit. Finally, after a month I decided to stop using it because I can’t take anymore the breakouts I am having on my face. It can be a holy grail to some but not for me.
There are also pros about this toner:
- Packaging: It has a lid and a cap nozzle which makes it easier to use.
- Price: Its price is affordable for a 240mL glycolic acid toner.
Where to buy Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution – The Ordinary?
